About

Wilfried Zörner studied Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Munich (Germany) and the University of Bath (United Kingdom). He received his Ph.D. degree from Technical University of Munich. His thesis was on small‐scale solar‐thermal power generation. He has been professor for design and development at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt since 1998. He now concentrates his teaching on renewable energy technologies, especially bio energy and solar energy. He initiated the establishment of the Bachelor degree course ‘Renewable Energy Technologies’ and is the person in charge of academic internationalization in Africa. As head of the Institute of new Energy Systems (InES), Wilfried Zörner is responsible for applied research in the fields of bio energy technology, solar energy technology and energy systems technology. A team of 15 researchers works under his supervision. He manages a budget of approximately € 6 million acquired from regional, national and international funding organisations. InES mainly carries out cooperative research with industry, universities and research institutes on national and international scale. International activities focus on Europe and Africa. Wilfried Zörner is member of numerous national and international organisations and author of more than 100 publications in the field of renewable energies. Before joining Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt, Wilfried Zörner worked with an international company for plant engineering and construction in the railway business for 7 years. There he was head of a German/Italian product
unit consisting of departments for research and design, production, purchasing and logistics as well as quality.
