About | Samuel John studied Mechanical Engineering at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Dr John is an Associate Professor at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), with experience in teaching, research, community service and administration. He has served as Head of Department, Deputy Dean and currently serving as Dean of Engineering. Other experiences include but not limited to the following: third stream research fund sourcing; program evaluation and assessment; research administration; strategic and operational planning; student-faculty engagement; faculty development; accreditations; curriculum development and revision; community-university partnerships; and international partnership (including USA, RSA, Czech, Hungary, Germany and Switzerland).
Dr John’s research interest is in Control Systems: Linear and non-linear control systems applications and artificial intelligent systems. He is also involved with research in the field of Mechatronics applications in: Renewable energy systems, Vehicle anti-lock braking systems and Vehicle suspension systems.
