About | Helvi Ileka is a projects officer at the Namibia Energy Institute, Centre for Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency (CREEE), and holds a Master of Energy and Environmental Management from the University of Twente (The Netherlands), High Certificate in Photovoltaic Engineering (InWEnt, Germany) and a Diploma in Electronics (Namibia). At CREEE Helvi Ileka initiates and conducts research in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, develop a fundraising strategy, advises government on clean energy policy, generates income from other sources than government, creates local and international research networks & partnerships. Helvi Ileka coordinates and manages the following projects at CREEE: OGEMP - Off-grid Energisation Master Plan (Energy Shops & Minigrids integration), PMU - Regulations for procurement (30 MWp PV through bidding from IPP), CSP -Prefeasibility Study – full feasibility study (50-100 MW by 2018), NEEP in Buildings – Energy Audits, Revision of building codes, Green Building Council of Namibia (GBCNA), NWRAP -Namibia Wind Resource Assessment Project, SOLTRAIN - Solar Thermal Training Initiative, PSC - (NIRP) - National Integrated Resource Plan, REEEP - Regulatory Framework for Namibia -Net metering. She managed the preparation of the submission of the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREE) to the SADC Secretariat which was awarded on 24 July 2015 to be hosted in Namibia. Helvi Ileka has a strong foundation in the hands-on technical and practical side of Solar Energy Systems since 1994 the time she joined Solar Age Namibia until 2010 the time she joined REEEI. At Solar Age Namibia she started as lab technician, a technical advisor, training officer for the NAMREP service providers, workshop manager and a member of management team. |
