About

Tunde Oladiran is Professor of Energy Engineering and Head of the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Botswana International University of Science and Technology, Botswana . He was formerly of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Clean Energy Research Centre of the University of Botswana (UB). He diligently served UB in various capacities which include being HOD of the Department, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs), Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) and Member of the UB Council. He also served in various committees within the department, faculty as well as at University. He represented UB on a number of national committees, Reference Groups and Boards of parastatal organisations. He has over thirty years of experience in academia and industry. His research interest areas are in energy management, energy conservation, clean coal technologies and renewable energy resources. He currently coordinates Botswana team in an international research project titled "Potential of Distributed Grid-connected Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems in Rural Electrification in Africa", funded by the African Union Research Grant /the ACP Secretariat/ and the European Union. He is also involved in another international research project on jatropha sponsored by both Botswana and Japanese governments. He is passionate about engineering education research. He is a chartered mechanical engineer and a member of several professional bodies. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering (specializing in Applied Energy) from Cranfield Institute of Technology, Bedfordshire, England.
